Everysing

CocoRosie With bipolar changes in tempo and mood throughout the song, it makes sense that "Lemonade" was composed by a sibling duo (Sierra and Blanca). The lighter moments have a Verve jazz sample vibe, while the slower parts would appeal to Portishead fans. Although this is their debut on Sub Pop, "Grey Oceans" (out 5/11) is their fourth album overall.

She Him After Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward wooed us with their debut album, they left us wondering, "Was that just a one night stand, or do they really love us?" With "Volume Two", we're starting to believe this could be a long-term relationship. After only a few songs deep, you'll forget you're listening to a movie star and be swept away by timeless, alt-country meets indie-pop harmonies.

Mimicking Birds What appears to be a mellow Modest Mouse side project is, actually, almost that. The new Portland-based indie-folk trio, Mimicking Birds, is produced by Isaac Brock (lead singer Nate Lacy even has the same trembling vocal style as Brock). You can listen to their entire debut album on their website and sign-up for the email list to get the free MP3.

Blitzen Trapper Unless the rest of the album is filled with beat-less piano ballads, "Heaven Earth" may be an odd choice for the kick-off "single." But Blitzen Trapper (and their label Sub Pop) are known for playing by their own rules. Eric Earley's timeless melodies keep singing/songwriting alive and leave us anxiously wondering what the rest of "Destroyer of the Void" (out 6/ will sound like.

Sia While Sia Furler prepares for "The We Meaning You Tour" this spring, we're warming up with her dance floor jam, "You've Changed." She's going coast-to-coast with some impressive stops such as playing the Coachella festival. As her catalog expands on "Some People Have Real Problems" and her hit single "Breathe Me" (from Six Feet Under), Sia's new dance vibe is perfect for upbeat, like-minded party people.

A Weather As Kings of Convenience once proclaimed, "quiet is the new loud," A Weather would have to agree with their sophomore effort Everyday Balloons. Although their hushed harmonies are low in volume, the new material is actually peppier than their debut "Cove." Yes it's sleepy, but that's intended (and that's what we like about it). The featured song "Giant Stars," which appears late in the album, is now available on Team Love Records.
